Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3 large apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. Add the softened butter and mix until crumbly.
  4. In a separate bowl, toss the apple slices with brown sugar.
  5. In a baking dish, layer half of the flour mixture, then the apples, and top with the remaining flour mixture.
  6. Sprinkle the rolled oats and nuts on top.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

  • Serve warm with ice cream for an extra treat.
  • Can substitute apples with pears if desired.
