This Sourdough Cinnamon Rolls recipe yields the most delightful, soft, and fluffy rolls, perfect for a breakfast treat.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sourdough starter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the sourdough starter, milk, sugar, melted butter, egg, and vanilla.
  2. Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  5. On a floured surface, roll the dough out into a rectangle.
  6. Spread softened butter, sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon on top.
  7. Roll up the dough tightly and cut into rolls.
  8. Place rolls in a baking dish and let rise again for 30-45 minutes.
  9. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

  • For extra softness, use bread flour instead of all-purpose.
  • Let the rolls cool completely before icing.
