  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, combine buttermilk, oil, eggs, vanilla, and food coloring.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
  5. Pour the batter into prepared cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  6. Let cool before frosting.
