Red Velvet Crinkle Cookies are a delightful treat that combines the rich flavor of red velvet with a classic crinkle cookie texture, perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar, for coating

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat the butter and granulated sugar until fluffy.
  4. Add the egg, food coloring, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix well.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  7. Once chilled, scoop out the dough and roll into balls, then roll in powdered sugar to coat.
  8. Place the balls on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the cookies are set but soft in the middle.
  10. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

  • For an extra chocolatey flavor, add mini chocolate chips to the dough.
  • Make sure not to overbake the cookies for a chewy texture.
