Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
  3. In another bowl, mix together oil, buttermilk, eggs, food coloring, vanilla extract, and vinegar.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients, mixing until well blended.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
