  • 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and diced
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 6 apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Roll out the dough and cut into circles, placing in muffin tin.
  4. In another bowl, mix apples, lemon juice, cinnamon, brown sugar, and flour.
  5. Fill each pastry with the apple mixture.
  6. Top with another dough circle and seal edges.
  7. Brush with egg wash.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

  • For added flavor, consider adding nutmeg.
