  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, pickles

Instructions

  1. Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
  2. Form the ground beef into balls, about 4 ounces each.
  3. Add olive oil to the skillet and place the beef balls on it.
  4. Smash the beef balls with a spatula until they are about 1/2 inch thick.
  5. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Cook for 3-4 minutes until a crust forms, then flip and add cheese on top.
  7. Cook for another 2 minutes until cheese melts.
  8. Toast the burger buns in the skillet.
  9. Assemble the burgers with onions and any optional toppings.

Notes

  • For best results, use fresh ground beef with a higher fat content.
  • Don’t overcrowd the skillet; cook in batches if necessary.
